Lionness kills 7-year old girl in Gujrat’s Jafrabad Taluka, second fatal attack in fortnight

In a tragic incident in Jafrabad taluka, Gujarat, a seven-year-old girl lost her life after being attacked by a lioness while returning home with her mother in Kanthariya Khalsa village. The lioness appeared suddenly, dragging the child into nearby bushes, where her remains were later found. This marks the second fatal attack in the area within two weeks, as another incident on October 21 claimed the life of a five-year-old boy in Navi Jikadri village, also in Jafrabad, after a lioness attacked him while he was playing outside his home.

Range Forest Officer GL Vaghela stated that forest officials acted swiftly, managing to tranquilize and capture the lioness by Tuesday morning. Despite these efforts, the recent attacks have caused fear and frustration among local residents, who had reportedly approached the forest department multiple times about lion sightings in the area.
