In a remarkable conservation initiative, Tigress โJamunaโ has journeyed 900 kilometers from Maharashtraโs Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) to the Simlipal Tiger Reserve in Odisha. This strategic relocation aims to enrich Simlipalโs tiger gene pool, fostering genetic diversity crucial for the speciesโ survival and resilience.
Jamuna is currently in a specially designed soft enclosure, where she is adapting to her new environment before her eventual release into the wild. Wildlife officials and conservationists see this move as a major step in securing a sustainable future for Indiaโs tiger population, with Jamuna expected to contribute significantly to the genetic health of the Simlipal tigers.
