On December 13, 2024, during the inauguration of India’s 57th Tiger Reserve, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced that Ratapani Tiger Reserve will be named after renowned archaeologist Dr. Vishnu Wakankar. The announcement marks a significant milestone in wildlife conservation and acknowledges Dr. Wakankar’s contributions to Indian archaeology. Ratapani Tiger Reserve is now the 8th Tiger Reserve of Madhya Pradesh, further strengthening the state’s status as the ‘Tiger State of India’. The event took place as part of the “Jan Kalyan Parv” celebrations, commemorating one year of the Mohan Yadav government.
