Free-Range reintroduction of one-horned rhinos set for Uttar Pradesh after almost 80 years

Preparations are in full swing for the historic free-range reintroduction of the one-horned rhinoceros in Uttar Pradesh, marking a significant milestone in wildlife conservation. After almost eight decades, these majestic animals are set to return to their natural habitat.
In a collaborative effort, the Uttar Pradesh Forest Department, Dudhwa Tiger Reserve, and WWF India are working meticulously to ensure the rhinos’ smooth transition back to their historic landscape. This initiative aims to restore ecological balance and revive the population of the endangered species in the region.
The reintroduction process involves scientific planning and robust habitat management strategies to provide a safe environment for these rhinos to thrive. With the support of UPGovt and experisitindia, the dream of bringing the unicorn returns to life is becoming a reality.
