Shivakumar Swami, a green activist and seer of the Nandiveri Sansthan Mutt, Kappathagudda, emphasized the importance of protecting farmland and forests for a better future for future generations.
The KLE Society’s G.K. Law College in Hubballi hosted a one-day national conference on “Climate change: Issues and challenges” on Saturday, which he was kicking off.
The seer urged everyone, especially the younger generation, to take aggressive steps to preserve hill stations and forest regions for a brighter future, stating that preventing deforestation was the key to lowering global warming.
In his keynote lecture, M.K. Ramesh, a former vice-chancellor and chair professor at NSLIU in Bengaluru, outlined the seminar’s agenda and emphasized the importance of strictly adhering to environmental protection regulations and principles. “Everyone must help the State in protecting the environment, and all States must implement the principles established in various world summits,” he stated.
Sagar Dhara, an environment engineer, researcher, and author from Hyderabad, discussed the “Impact of climate change on natural resources,” whereas Ravindranath Shanbhag, a human rights activist from Udupi, focused on the effects of climate change on human rights.
Yellappa Reddy, a former bureaucrat and environmental activist, spoke virtually to the students and attendees about Indian environmental law and policy. Vishwanath M., dean of KUD’s Faculty of Law, emphasized the global framework on climate change. A total of 17 people, including a number of kids, gave presentations on climate change.
