Bird-Based Ecoturism Creating Job Opportunities in Uttarakhand

The recent Uttarakhand Bird Festival held at the Benog Wildlife Sanctuary, Mussoorie, not only brought together nature lovers but also highlighted the potential of bird-based ecotourism in generating employment opportunities. Over 300 students from 15 schools participated, learning about bird conservation and sustainable practices.

Dr. Dhananjay Mohan, Chief Conservator of Forests, emphasized how bird festivals like these can contribute to ecotourism growth, providing locals with sustainable livelihood opportunities. Participants at the festival spotted 85 bird species, showcasing the rich biodiversity of Uttarakhand.

With such initiatives, conservation efforts are bringing both ecological and economic benefits to the region.
