1. The Tree of Tule (Taxodium mucronatum)

Location:  Oaxaca, Mexico.

Characteristics: – Has the stoutest trunk of any tree in the world. – Over 2,000 years old. – Believed to be sacred and the subject of many local legends.

2. Cycad  (Encephalartos woodii)

Location:  South Africa.

Characteristics: – Often called a "living fossil" as it dates back to prehistoric times. – Unique, palm-like appearance with a stout trunk and fern-like leaves. – Highly endangered, with only one known specimen of the male plant.

3. Chilean Wine Palm (Jubaea chilensis)

Location:  Chile

Characteristics: – Massive, thick trunk and towering height. – Produces sweet sap that is used to make palm wine. – Endangered due to habitat loss and over-harvesting.

4. Walking Palm (Socratea exorrhiza)

Location:  Central and South American rainforests.

Characteristics: – Stilt-like roots that appear to enable the tree to "walk." – Roots can grow new extensions that allow the tree to move towards sunlight. – Adapted to thrive in unstable soils.
