𝗧𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 ‘𝗝𝗮𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗮’ 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝟵𝟬𝟬 𝗸𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹

In a remarkable conservation initiative, Tigress ‘Jamuna’ has journeyed 900 kilometers from Maharashtra’s Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) to the Simlipal Tiger Reserve in Odisha. This strategic relocation aims to enrich Simlipal’s tiger gene pool, fostering genetic diversity crucial for the species’ survival and resilience.

Jamuna is currently in a specially designed soft enclosure, where she is adapting to her new environment before her eventual release into the wild. Wildlife officials and conservationists see this move as a major step in securing a sustainable future for India’s tiger population, with Jamuna expected to contribute significantly to the genetic health of the Simlipal tigers.
