In a remarkable conservation initiative, Tigress โ€˜Jamunaโ€™ has journeyed 900 kilometers from Maharashtraโ€™s Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) to the Simlipal Tiger Reserve in Odisha. This strategic relocation aims to enrich Simlipalโ€™s tiger gene pool, fostering genetic diversity crucial for the speciesโ€™ survival and resilience.

Jamuna is currently in a specially designed soft enclosure, where she is adapting to her new environment before her eventual release into the wild. Wildlife officials and conservationists see this move as a major step in securing a sustainable future for Indiaโ€™s tiger population, with Jamuna expected to contribute significantly to the genetic health of the Simlipal tigers.
